Time for some Damon Lindelof news. That definitely won't be controversial.

The Lost/Leftovers co-creator is hard at work on his TV adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's masterpiece comic Watchmen. The series is now moving ahead at full speed as HBO has given its pilot (and several additional scripts) the green light. It seems HBO is very keen on making this thing a reality. That makes sense because they're about to have a major Game of Thrones-shaped hole in their schedule. Westworld had an awfully promising first season but HBO surely wants more massive, zeitgeist-capturing shows to fill out their programming.

We all know (and have probably read) Watchmen and know just how thick it is. It's got plenty of drama and action and characters to fill up at least an entire season. Lindelof's show will definitely fill out the world Moore and Gibbons created. You can bet Alan Moore will be none too happy about that. Then again, he's never happy about anything.

Hey, HBO! Nudity!

And, no, Zack Snyder isn't involved. However, the director of the feature film adaptation was a part of HBO's project a few years back so it wouldn't be surprising if the show feels a lot like his movie. That's not a bad thing. Say what you want about Snyder's film (it was too long with iffy performances) but you can't say it wasn't gorgeous. Given the right budget, Lindelof's possible show could feel a lot like that.

Lindelof seems to be flying pretty high after the critically-acclaimed Leftovers won over many fans and critics who wrote him off after Lost and Prometheus. To his credit, the Leftovers success seems to have affected him in the right, creative ways. Take this quote from him regarding Watchmen:

"I want to keep it sort of insular. It's OK with me if people don't understand it because they don't deserve to understand it."

Yup. Sounds like a die-hard comic book fan to me.
