I’m sure Vince Vaughn is a perfectly nice guy but let’s be honest, he can give off some creepy vibes. Maybe it’s the fact that he starred in that bizarre Psycho remake but I’ve always gotten the heebie jeebies from the man. I can picture him slaughtering people far too easily.

That’s why him being cast as a murderer isn’t too surprising. I buy that! But him being cast as a murderer in a Freaky Friday-like body-swap film is a bit more surprising. But that’s what’s happened. According to Deadline, Vaughn will co-star with Kathryn Newton in a new thriller from Happy Death Day director Chris Landon. Here’s the pitch for the film, which is coming to us from Blumhouse:

Okay, so it’s not just a straight-up body-swap film. It’s a body-swap film about a deranged serial killer. Ah, that’s MUCH better. It sounds right up Landon’s alley. His Happy Death Day films have become surprise successes, mostly due to his casting and perfectly-aware and fun scripts. Let’s see what he can do with this one. He has surprised people before and I am positive he can do it again. Don’t count this movie out just because the premise sounds silly!

The casting is spot-on. I don’t know much of Newton’s work but Vaughn as a killer is a great choice. I wonder how much humor will be in the movie or if it’ll be a straight forward thriller. Knowing Vaughn and Landon, I would assume there will be some laughs in this as well. Because serial killers, as we all know, are hilarious.
