Warner Bros. is Readying their New Batman Video Game

Do you get joy from beating the tar out of lowly criminals and extravagant psychopaths? Then Warner Bros. Interactive has some good news for you!

Bloomberg just released an extensive report on a brand new Harry Potter game currently in development from WB and Avalanche Studios. The story goes into detail about how some working on the game feel uncomfortable because of J.K. Rowling’s recent offensive transphobic tweets. Apparently, Avalanche management has yet to address the offensive comments. Bad form, Avalanche.

Buried in the Potter piece is confirmation that Warner Bros. Interactive is also hard at work on a brand new Batman game. The long-rumored game is probably coming from Warner Bros. Montreal and is possibly a reboot of the wildly popular Batman Arkham series. Regardless of what it is, the Batman game will be announced in August during the virtual DC FanDome event. We don’t have a release date for the game but I am sure much, much more will be revealed at FanDome.

This is music to the ears of many a-Batman fan because the Arkham games were well-received upon release. Personally, I am hopeful that the upcoming Batman game goes in a new direction because I grew tired of the style of those Arkham games. Who wants just another game that looks and feels like the ones that came before it? A few years have passed, hopefully WB Interactive are taking things in a different direction.

There have been rumors that the new Batman game will actually be heavily influenced by the cherished animated series Batman Beyond. If true, that approach would make Bat fans go crazy because the love for Batman Beyond has grown nearly-paramount since the show premiered all those years ago. The idea of exploring the world of Beyond would have many Batman aficionados drooling.

I’m expecting a game that’s more in line with the Arkham games rather than Batman Beyond but, hey, what do I know? Whatever the game is, it’ll definitely be a hit. People love playing as Batman. And, really, can you blame them? You get all those cool gadgets and bad ass fighting skills with none of the childhood trauma!
