Trouble City Is Going Dark for Blackout Tuesday

We have decided to pause all operations at Trouble City for today, Tuesday, June 2, in observance of Blackout Tuesday. This is our way — small as it may be — to protest racial injustice, police brutality and a terribly broken system across America. We stand with the protestors, the Floyd family and everyone who is fighting for equality in our country.

This is a unique and frightening time for our nation. In some ways, it feels all-too-familiar. In many other ways, it feels completely brand new. My hope is that this is a time for real crucial change. Blackout Tuesday is an opportunity for everyone, from bloggers to activists to entertainers, to come together to fight for something bigger than ourselves. We cannot stand by and let more of our neighbors and friends and brothers and sisters be killed simply because of the color of their skin. It is inhumane and truly unamerican. This requires a systemic change, from the bottom to the top. We know pausing a movie news blog won’t do much but hopefully it will be part of a much, much larger movement.

This is one day but the work and fight will continue tomorrow, the day after and the day after. Do what is right and don’t give up. For far too many people, this is a matter of life and death.
