This made my day. The trailer for Annapurna Interactive’s new game Donut County is pure joy. It’s fun, lighthearted, simple and pleasant, and I can’t come up with a negative thing I can say about it. I want to play Donut County right away after watching this trailer, and I honestly think this game has the potential to become an instant family favorite. It even kind of makes me think of A Town Called Panic. Check it out:

I like the style of Donut County a lot. The game is finally coming out in 2018 after having been revealed a few years ago by creator Ben Esposito. Thanks to Annapurna Interactive, we can now look forward to playing this enjoyable looking all-ages experience. It’s the kind of game that makes me think the creative force behind it was inspired by the portable holes used in old Road Runner cartoons.

Donut County has crazy amounts of potential, and Annapurna Interactive is starting to develop a very solid reputation of releasing high-quality titles. I loved What Remains of Edith Finch and their upcoming puzzler Gorogoa really has my attention too. I get the impression Donut Country will fall right in line with games like Katamari Damacy for its play mechanics and humor, so I’m already pretty sold on the idea. Check out the official summary below and visit Steam where it’s already listed. This game looks good.

Donut County is a physics adventure game where you control a hole in the ground. Every time you swallow something, the hole grows a little bit bigger. You play as a raccoon named BK, a new hire at a startup that uses remote-controlled holes to steal people's trash - along with everything else. When BK falls into a hole himself, he must answer to his best friend Mira and the residents of Donut County who are now stuck 999 feet below their homes.

Key Features:

  • Explores negative space by giving players control over a hole in the ground.
  • Combine objects in the hole for surprising effects, solve puzzles by launching them back out and ruin everyone’s day by devouring everything in sight.
