What you see above and below are the newest posters for Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey or Birds of Prey And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn. These one-sheets are inspired by the artistic talents of Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli and they look like a perfect mix of classical artwork and candy-coated mayhem.

There is a lot to love here. Look at Ewan McGregor’s outfit. Look at Black Canary’s bad ass stance. Look at the weird little beaver in a tutu. There’s a lot going on here. Most importantly though, this film is already carving out its own voice and personality months ahead of its release. You can feel its spirit and energy just by looking at these posters. I love the look here, it’s bright and wild and bizarre and totally different from what you’d expect in a comic book movie poster.

This is where DC and WB can outdo Marvel. They are starting to release movies that feel drastically different from one another and are packed to the gills with character and brave choices and unique takes on the genre. It seems that Birds of Prey will be unique with a capital U. That’s great news for movie fans, comic book fans and especially the folks working at DC Films. Things are starting to come together for them and Birds of Prey is the next step in the right direction.

All the new posters are below. Click on each one to enlarge!
