We finally have a trailer for Borat 2! Or, more accurately, we finally have a trailer for Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe To American Regime For Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
The comedy moviefilm, which we didn’t even know about a few weeks ago, will debut via Amazon Prime Video on October 23 and it promises to be something to remember. The trailer above shows us typical Borat hijinks: Sacha Baron Cohen making a slew of offensive, misinformed comments (while average Americans slew their own), unwanted nudity, poking fun at conservative politics and, of course, a lot of misogyny.
I’ve gotta say, this definitely looks better than it should be. Of course, maybe this is just a great trailer and the movie itself is lacking (comedy sequels are especially hard to pull off) but it feels like Borat 2 may bring the goods. I love how Borat, in costume to hide his true identity, still sounds exactly like Borat despite his disguises. I also love how the movie is just the same ol’ Borat shtick: he says the worst things imaginable and, sure enough, some dumb American is there to back him up 100%. Oy, what a nightmare. In a way, the Borat character was tailor-made for the Trump era.
Speaking of Trump, it seems that Borat dresses up like our clueless commander-in-chief and it’s a sight to behold.
Borat 2 is sure to be one of the most talked-about movies of 2020. Perhaps this year won’t be a total loss after all!
