‘Invincible’ Trailer: Will Robert Kirkman’s New Amazon Show Be Super?

The trailer above is our first look at Robert Kirkman’s Invincible, the animated series based on his comic series that is set to debut on Amazon Prime Video in 2021. The book and show are about a young man who discovers he has super powers and his journey as he becomes a hero and follows in his superhuman father’s footsteps.

The cartoon features the voice talents of Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons and more. It’s going to be an adult-aimed series, full of mature themes and a crap ton of intense violence, just like the comics on which it’s based.

This is a project that people have been wanting for some time so the first trailer is going to get a lot of folks talking. The source material is revered by many, it’s considered Kirkman’s true magnum opus. From what we see above, the series looks promising but also a little cheap. It feels like those direct-to-DVD DC movies that have been so popular over the last decade. It’s not bad but just feels slight and kind of bland. I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, I am sure there is much more to this show than just how it looks. But, well, I am not too impressed with the visuals.

Like I said, the comic series has a ton of fans so there is a chance Amazon has a serious hit on their hands here. Will it be as big as Kirkman’s other hit show, The Walking Dead? Amazon sure hopes so.
