New Posters Promise A Whimsical, Colorful Return for ‘Doom Patrol’

DC’s streaming service, DC Universe, is something of a mixed bag when it comes to content. It has a ton of fantastic comic books to read (seriously, it has thousands) but when it comes to original shows and movies, the catalogue is running a little low.

Critics and fans went nuts for the first season of Doom Patrol. So much so that the newly-launched HBO Max is going to premiere the second season at the same time DC Universe does, on June 25th. That proves just how much faith WarnerMedia has in the series.

A couple of posters have been released to drum up interest in the new season and they are bright, colorful and cheerful in a way that might seem surprising considering the show is about a bunch of misfit, unloved superheroes. These posters are also playing on The Wizard of Oz, which makes sense because one of the characters is named Dorothy. I’ll let you guess which character that is.

I don’t want to know who is who or what is going on because I still haven’t seen season one of Doom Patrol. I need to remedy that quickly because the reviews have been nothing but stellar. I wrote the show off because it was launching on DC Universe and I will admit that I am a streaming snob. If it’s not Netflix or Disney+ then I’m not interested! But you can’t argue with a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, can you? It’s time I branch out and see what other streaming services have to offer.

Doom Patrol season two premieres on both DC Universe and HBO Max on June 25.
