It’s time for another installment of the QT Question, the podcast where Schwartz and I talk about the filmography of Quentin Tarantino and debate the titular question: are his movies really about anything? It’s a bit more clear cut than usual with Jackie Brown, possibly the great, forgotten QT film, and by acclamation, the absolute best Tarantino film for people that don’t like Tarantino films! We talk about Tarantino’s ability as an adaptor, the difference between plot and structure, Robert DeNiro’s prickliness, the recurring motif of pop culture used as a conversational weapon, and whether or not the larger Elmore Leonard-verse is included in the St. Elsewhere Tommy Westphal snowglobe pocket universe that unifies all of television.

We’re making some under the hood changes to the show to up our game, and I’m excited for you guys to see what we’ve got planned. In the meantime, enjoy this chat about Tarantino’s most unsung ode to loquacious LA lowlifes, and get ready for the Kill Bills, coming next time!
