TROUBLE CITY

'Outer Wilds' Coming Soon from Annapurna Interactive

Annapurna's got a new game on the way that looks pretty damn awesome.

I'm already looking forward to playing the hell out of this. Space explorations are hard to pull off effectively (I'm looking at you No Man's Sky) but when done right, they are a blast to play. The time loop concept is interesting and makes me wonder if there's some kind of Groundhog's Day thing going on here. Either way, the footage looks great and I love the visuals and score.

Outer Wilds lauches sometime this year on PC and hopefully home consoles as well. No word on the firm release date yet, but I am absolutely preordering this on Steam as soon as possible. Annapurna Interactive has been on a roll since their inception, and I can't wait to see just how this game plays. Check out the official summary info below and keep an eye out for more updates soon.

Outer Wilds, an open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop, will be coming to PC and additional platforms in 2018. Outer Wilds is a first-person space simulator game that rewards players’ curiosity. From planets and moons to alien structures and spacecraft, discover the mysteries of this hand-crafted, fully dynamic Solar System.

The planets of Outer Wilds are packed with hidden locations that change with the passage of time. Players can visit an underground city before it’s swallowed by sand, or explore the surface of a planet as it crumbles beneath their feet. They also have access to a variety of unique gadgets that help them probe their surroundings, track down mysterious signals, decipher ancient alien writing, and roast the perfect marshmallow.

Outer Wilds is being developed by LA-based Mobius Digital. The game started as a student project by Creative Lead Alex Beachum, and the alpha version of the project won the Seamus McNally Grand Prize and Excellence in Design awards at the 2015 Independent Games Festival.

The game is being published by Annapurna Interactive, the publisher behind the critically acclaimed titles What Remains of Edith Finch, Gorogoa and Florence. Annapurna Interactive is a division of Annapurna Pictures, the production studio behind Zero Dark Thirty, Her and Sausage Party, dedicated to producing and publishing games. Outer Wilds is the latest addition to the Annapurna Interactive family, which currently includes What Remains of Edith Finch, Gorogoa and Florence, and upcoming titles including Ashen, Donut County, Kentucky Route Zero TV Edition, Telling Lies, Wattam and The Artful Escape.
