It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Bill S. Preston Esq. and Red Theodore Logan III save the world. Their last film, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, hit theaters back in 1991 and it’s been radio silence from the founding members of Wyld Stallyns since. But that will all change in 2020 when Bill & Ted Face The Music debuts. The comedy, from series creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, finds our heroes once again doing their best to ensure humanity’s survival.

Above and below are the first pics from the film, courtesy of EW. The magazine also got a few choice nuggets of information about the movie, including the fact that Kid Cudi will appear as himself and that Death (once again played by William Sadler) is no longer part of Wyld Stallyns. Damn, can’t any band just stay together?

Matheson sums up the film this way:

They were told when they were teenagers that they were going to save reality, and they’ve been working on it the whole time. Now an emissary from the future comes and says, ‘You’ve got to do it right now. We’ve got literally 80 minutes or all of reality will come to an end.’

The two Bill & Ted movies are great and Bogus Journey is one of the few comedy sequels that holds up and even surpasses its predecessor in some ways. I know it’s been a long time since Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters suited up as the titular heroes but something tells me that this third film could work, despite all the time that’s passed. I sure as hell hope so because it would be nice for there to be a comedy trilogy that is actually good from beginning to end.

Plus it’s just wonderful to see these guys together again after all this time. It feels good. It feels right.

Bill & Ted Face The Music premieres August 21, 2020.
