Frame Work: The Sopranos, The Many Saints of Newark and the Anti-Hero in 2021

This week on the program, we’re talking about the current cultural legacy of HBO’s landmark series The Sopranos. There’s some discussion of the new prequel film, The Many Saints of Newark, but we quickly realized that the strongest reaction we had to it was a desire to revisit the original show, and look at how the current media landscape has been fashioned by its unlikely success, and also the extent to which the world has changed. Is there a place for the classic TV anti-hero in the era of Me Too?
